Basketball Game Preview: Salem Rocks vs. Novi Wildcats

The Salem Rocks will head out to challenge the Novi Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Salem and 17 for Novi dating back to last season.

Salem is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Northville on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Salem had to suffer through a 66-30 loss at the hands of Northville. The Rocks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-16.

Meanwhile, Novi came up short against Canton on Friday, falling 53-27. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 507th, while the Cobras are ranked 239th).

Salem now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Novi, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.

Everything came up roses for Salem against Novi when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 65-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Salem since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
