Recap: Sky View Bobcats vs. Eagle Mustangs
On Friday, things could have been worse for Sky View, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 73-54 loss to Eagle. While losing is never fun, Sky View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 74th in Utah, while Eagle is ranked 13th in Idaho).
When it comes to explaining why Sky View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Liam Guthrie. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Guthrie scored a full 31.5% of Sky View's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Bryton Williams, who scored six points along with five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eagle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miguel Taylor, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Russell Gibson, who scored 13 points along with six assists.
Sky View now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Eagle, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.
Sky View won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Thunder Ridge at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Eagle and Preston will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Preston's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
