Cross has gone 7-1 against Scott's Branch recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cross comes in on four and Scott's Branch on five.
Cross' defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past St. John's, posting a 42-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Cross' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mah'Ky Green, who rushed for 137 yards and one score on only eight carries, and Tyler Harris, who threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cross was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Cross' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jakobe Jones, Keyawn Wilson, and Michael Bennett, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Scott's Branch). They blew past St. John's 54-0 last Friday. The Eagles not only won last Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 18, 2024 (when they won 68-6).
Cross better keep an eye on Jaiven Conyers. He was instrumental in Scott's Branch's win, throwing for 253 yards and six TDs while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, and also punching in one score on the ground. Those six passing touchdowns gave Conyers a new career-high. Scott's Branch's leading receiver Nyren Bowman was Conyers' top target yet again, picking up 61 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Cross' victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Scott's Branch, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Cross has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.7 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Scott's Branch, though, as they've been averaging only 62.3 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Cross against Scott's Branch in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 54-12 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
