Baseball Recap: Fort Lee Bridgemen vs. Dumont Huskies
Dumont hit Fort Lee with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bridgemen fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 10-9. The Bridgemen were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Huskies earlier this season, when they won 9-4.
Jacob Greenberg was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since April 7th. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Luke Senatore led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season. Chris Kim was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Fort Lee's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 12-5. As for Dumont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.
