Baseball Recap: Garner Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Garner ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Millbrook Wildcats 12-11. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 14-11 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jacori Covington and Holden Carroll did most of the damage at the plate: Covington went 3-for-6 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Carroll went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs Covington has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Walton, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Garner was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millbrook only posted a batting average of .250.

Garner is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Millbrook, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Garner has already played their next matchup, an 8-7 victory against Cleveland on the 17th. As for Millbrook, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Enloe on the 17th.
