Football Game Preview: Great Valley Patriots vs. Bayard Rustin Golden Knights

Great Valley hasn't had much luck against Bayard Rustin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Patriots will challenge the Golden Knights at 7:00 p.m. This will be Great Valley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Great Valley came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They were dealt a 38-6 defeat at the hands of Downingtown West. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Sonny Baldino put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 99 receiving yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bayard Rustin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took down Downingtown East 31-14 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Knights in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Great Valley better keep an eye on Will Garner. He was instrumental in Bayard Rustin's win, rushing for 98 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Garner is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Bayard Rustin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nicky Santangelo and Kalief Cunningham.

Bayard Rustin's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Great Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Beau Kosmalski and Garner. Kosmalski just won't slow down this season and has averaged 95 rushing yards per game. Garner has been a dominant force too and has run in 8 touchdowns while averaging 100.7 rushing yards per game.
