Recap: Catalina Trojans vs. Tanque Verde Hawks
The Catalina Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 53-25 defeat at the hands of Tanque Verde. Catalina was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-7.
Tanque Verde's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Gooch, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily O'Rourke-Slone, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Catalina bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Tanque Verde, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catalina will be home for the holidays to greet St. Augustine Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Augustine Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday. As for Tanque Verde, they will be playing at home against Sahuaro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sahuaro is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
