Softball Recap: Lancaster Wins Going Away Against Palmdale

Lancaster's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Palmdale Falcons with a sharp 19-2 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Cassandra Velasquez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jordyn Zinn, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Sam Salas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Lancaster is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Palmdale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Looking ahead, Lancaster will venture away from home to face off against Paraclete at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Spirits have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests. As for Palmdale, they will welcome Marshall at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.5 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
