Basketball Recap: Kingston Cougars vs. Fredericktown Black Cats

The Kingston Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 52-18 loss at the hands of Fredericktown. While losing is never fun, Kingston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while the Black Cats are ranked 236th).

Fredericktown was led to victory by Ava Penuel and Amelia Miller. Penuel dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Miller scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keira Francis, who scored eight points along with four steals.

Kingston has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 14 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season. As for Fredericktown, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11.

Kingston is on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Trojans on February 7th. Potosi is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Fredericktown, they will face off against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. North County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
