Baseball Recap: Northern York Find Success

Northern York was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They won by a run and slipped past the Waynesboro Indians 4-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on April 1st.

Andrew Weaver looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Ryland Yinger was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Matthew Kendall, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Northern York hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

Northern York's record now sits at 7-5. As for Waynesboro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

When Northern York and Waynesboro next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Polar Bears will try to stop Donegal's three-game winning streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Waynesboro will take on Spring Grove and their three-game winning streak at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
