Volleyball Recap: Grain Valley's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Grain Valley extended their winning streak to eight on Thursday, bumping them up to 23-7. They came out on top against the Platte County Pirates by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in September.

Kyleigh Casey paced Grain Valley's offense, picking up 18 kills. Casey got some help from Bromlee Cook and her 24 assists. Annabelle Stewart controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

As for Platte County, the loss snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 18-10-2 record. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

When it comes to explaining why Platte County lost, don't look at Gia DeRose. Despite the final result, she had 21 digs and nine assists. DeRose is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Grain Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Platte County, after both having extra time off, they and Liberty North will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
