Baseball Recap: Valley Takes a Loss

Valley extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 11-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hope Christian Huskies. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by just one run.

Thomas Velarde was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Zach Toledo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for Hope Christian, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Hope Christian's side, the team relied heavily on Caleb Pena, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Pena has posted since back in March.

Coming up, Valley will challenge Del Norte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Hope Christian, they will square off against Atrisco Heritage Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
