Softball Recap: Purnell Swett Takes a Loss

Purnell Swett dropped their record down to 9-10 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the East Columbus Gators, falling 13-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rams of the 4-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Purnell Swett saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kam Locklear, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

As for East Columbus, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

On East Columbus' side, the team relied heavily on Aleigh Godwin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Skylah Collins, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Purnell Swett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for East Columbus, they will take on Fairmont in a tournament on Monday.
