Softball Recap: Poynette Wins Going Away Against Columbus

Poynette won the last time they faced Columbus and things went their way on Thursday too. The Pumas were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cardinals. The result was nothing new for the Pumas, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Poynette and bumps their season record up to 9-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Columbus, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poynette will take on Lakeside Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Columbus, they will square off against Brodhead at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus' pitchers better be ready for this one: Brodhead has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
