Basketball Game Preview: Morrill Lions vs. Mitchell Tigers

Morrill hasn't had much luck against Mitchell recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 4:00 p.m. Morrill has given up an average of 63 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Morrill is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Garden County last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Lions took a blow against the Eagles, falling 60-15. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-9.

Patrick Owens was Morrill's leading scorer, having posted five points. Ethan Lewis held things down on the boards with four rebounds.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Mitchell challenged Hemingford on Thursday. The Tigers took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats.

Morrill's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Morrill was taken down by Mitchell 66-35 when the teams last played back in February. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
