League recap: Union/Cove leads league with two wins since last week

2A/1A Special District 7 league recap: 5/22/13

Top honors in the league this week go to Union/cove, which finished with two wins overall, good for best in the league. The Bobcats beat Enterprise/joseph 12-2 and the Savages 7-2.

Union/Cove went from 11,682 to 11,558 in the national rankings since last week after going 2-0 in the past seven days. The Bobcats are currently sitting at No. 153 in the state of Oregon, thanks to an overall record of 11-11.

Elgin boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

The Huskies' 59 hits this week were the most in the league, adding to their season total of 98, best of any team.

Three batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Gavin Christenson, who collected 15 hits in 25 at bats for a .600 average.



Gavin Christenson hit an excellent .600 for Elgin. His season batting average leads the league at .447.
