Soccer Game Preview: Riverview Sarasota vs. Newsome

Riverview Sarasota hasn't had much luck against Newsome recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Riverview Sarasota Rams will square off against the Newsome Wolves at 8:00 p.m. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Riverview Sarasota is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Venice onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Rams were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Newsome came tearing into Wednesday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.4 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Stingrays 1-0. Given Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Stingrays are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Newsome's one-goal win came courtesy of Luca Savino, who's now up to 18 this season.

Newsome is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Riverview Sarasota, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8-2.
