Baseball Game Preview: Ozark Hillbillies vs. Booneville Bearcats

Ozark is 2-7 against Booneville since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hillbillies are taking a road trip to face off against the Bearcats at 4:30 p.m.

Ozark had taken Dardanelle down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Hillbillies fell just short of the Sand Lizards by a score of 6-5.

Meanwhile, Booneville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Bearcats have won five games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Booneville pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Ozark, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-5.

Ozark might still be hurting after the 11-0 loss they got from Booneville in their previous matchup back in March of 2020. Can the Hillbillies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
