Softball Game Preview: Hurricane Tigers vs. Uintah Utes

For the second straight game, Hurricane will face off against Uintah. The Tigers will face off against the Utes at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Hurricane is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Hurricane is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Uintah 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 9, 2024.

For Uintah's part, Lynlee Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. Hall has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kayla Olson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Pope, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

The win (which was Hurricane's third in a row) raised their record to 14-17. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Uintah, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hurricane has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452.
