Softball Recap: Cumberland Comes Up Short

Cumberland had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-8 to make it five. They came up short against the Moses Brown Quakers, falling 9-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Clippers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Moses Brown, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024 (when they won 11-3).

For Moses Brown's part, the team relied heavily on Elodie Cannon, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave Cannon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emmy Monchik, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland will face off against Scituate at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Moses Brown, they will square off against Smithfield at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
