Baseball Recap: Athens Triumphs

Athens won the last time they faced West Bloomfield and things went their way on Monday too. The Red Hawks skirted past the Lakers 3-2.

Derek Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Athens' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Bouren, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Athens' win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for West Bloomfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Athens will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lakers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
