Baseball Recap: Canyon Takes a Loss

Canyon had lost ten straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-19 to make it 11. They fell just short of the Foothill Tech Dragons by a score of 1-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cowboys of the 7-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

As for Foothill Tech, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch.

For Foothill Tech's part, the team relied heavily on Jacory Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Canyon will face off against Buckley at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Cowboys are facing the Griffins at the right time seeing as the Griffins are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Foothill Tech, they will square off against Simi Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
