Baseball Game Preview: Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans vs. Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack

The Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans will challenge the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Greater Nanticoke Area's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matches, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Greater Nanticoke Area fell victim to Pittston and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 13-0.

Greater Nanticoke Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Shemanski, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Wilkes-Barre hadn't done well against Wyoming Valley West recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolfpack never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.

Alex Hufford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Fritz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Greater Nanticoke Area's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Wilkes-Barre, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
