Basketball Recap: St. Mary Central Catholic Takes a Loss

If St. Mary Central Catholic was riding high fresh off their 55-26 takedown of St. Joseph Central Catholic last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Mary Central Catholic Panthers fell to the Calvert Senecas 45-39. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while the Senecas are ranked 191st).

Calvert's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Ritzler, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Carter Wolph, who earned 13 points and eight rebounds.

St. Mary Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Calvert, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Mary Central Catholic and Perkins will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Calvert, they will challenge Old Fort at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th.
