Baseball Game Preview: Neumann Celtics vs. The Village School of Naples Knights

The Neumann Celtics will face off against The Village School of Naples Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Neumann is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Bishop Verot on Friday. They lost 11-1 to the Vikings. The loss continues a trend for the Celtics in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, The Village School of Naples had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They didn't even let Donahue Catholic on the board on Monday, marking the Knights' second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Knights have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Christian Horvath was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Collin Baxter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory was the seventh in a row for The Village School of Naples, bringing their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Neumann, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
