Volleyball Recap: Sunnyslope Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Liberty

Sunnyslope faced Liberty in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Vikings fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Sunnyslope's loss came despite strong showings from Lilli Schmitt and Emma Easton. Schmitt had eight digs and two aces, while Easton had seven digs and three assists.

Sunnyslope has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-10 record this season. As for Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Sunnyslope will square off against Xavier College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Liberty, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Horizon on the 12th.
