The Jefferson Mustangs will welcome the Pflugerville Connally Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Jefferson had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 35-point drubbing they dealt Edison on Saturday. The Mustangs blew past the Golden Bears, posting a 41-6 victory. That looming 41-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Jefferson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aiden Urdiales, who threw for 123 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Urdiales a new career-high in rushing yards (25). Marnez Davis helped out on the ground, rushing for 112 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Jefferson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. It was truly a group effort as Andrew Arredondo, Julian Cervera, Aaron Garcia, and Michael Bejar picked up two apiece. Jefferson is 4-1 when Garcia posts one or more sacks, but 0-5 otherwise. Damian Ramirez was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making 18 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Pflugerville Connally challenged Pflugerville on Friday. The Cougars blew past the Panthers 65-26. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by 39 points or more so far this season.
Jefferson better keep an eye on Jonah Garcia. He was instrumental in Pflugerville Connally's win, rushing for 290 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 15 yards and one TD. Another player making a difference was Jase Watkins, who rushed for 68 yards and one score on only five carries.
Pflugerville Connally didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Pflugerville to a completion percentage of just 28.6%. Pflugerville Connally pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points over those games. As for Jefferson, their record now sits at 4-6.
