Recap: Desert Christian Knights vs. Vasquez Mustangs
The Desert Christian Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Vasquez 79-30. Desert Christian has struggled against Vasquez recently, as their match on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Desert Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Goodale, who scored 11 points. Josiah Barragan was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Leading Vasquez to victory were Daeron Bankett and Kristopher Horton. Bankett scored 16 points along with four steals, while Horton scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. The game was Horton's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Alatorre, who scored 14 points.
Desert Christian bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Vasquez, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
Desert Christian will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lancaster Baptist at 7:00 p.m. Lancaster Baptist is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Vasquez will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against The Palmdale Aerospace Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. The Palmdale Aerospace Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Vasquez likes a good challenge.
