Basketball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield easily dispatched McKinley last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Springfield Tigers fell just short of the Mineral Ridge Rams by a score of 50-47 on Tuesday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 51-37.

Mineral Ridge was led to victory by Landon Bingham and Chase Moore. Bingham went 5 of 10 en route to 15 points and five rebounds, while Moore dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards. That's the most points Bingham has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Derrick Hester, who posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Springfield now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Mineral Ridge, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will head out to challenge Waterloo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springfield is facing Waterloo at the right time seeing as Waterloo is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Mineral Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Memorial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.
