There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. The action included a dizzyingly high 129-point combined score from Nashua South and Manchester Central.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Monadnock last week (their 5th in a row). The final score between it and Kearsarge/Mount Royal Academy was a 38 - 0 blowout in Monadnock's favor. Monadnock did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. With ten consecutive wins, Monadnock boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Bedford (1st in the power rankings) and Merrimack (9th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Bedford put the hurt on Merrimack with a conclusive 56 - 14 victory. Merrimack had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 9.36 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off Bedford.
Game of Inches
The title of the most exciting match of the week goes to the clash between Alvirne and Milford. Alvirne can thank its lucky stars for its win over Milford. The final score was a hard-fought 36 - 35. Alvirne saw its record improve to 7-2 and its power rank jump four places as a result.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Londonderry (3rd in the power rankings) and Pinkerton (2nd). This will be the second consecutive road game for Pinkerton. Both it and Londonderry are bound to feel confident after their prior matchups, but one team's ego will take a hit. Check back on MaxPreps to find out which one when the teams meet up this week.
