Baseball Recap: Pine Ridge Takes a Loss

Pine Ridge dropped down to 3-2 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Umatilla Bulldogs, falling 6-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

As for Umatilla, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs this season.

For Umatilla's part, the result came thanks to Nick Sande's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keegan St. Amant, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephan Huckeba, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Pine Ridge will take on Mainland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.5 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Umatilla, they will square off against Lake Weir at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
