Basketball Recap: Portville Takes a Loss

Portville was the 71-59 winner over Ellicottville when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Portville Panthers took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ellicottville Eagles on Thursday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ellicottville found their leader in sophomore Blake Smith, who went 9-for-14 en route to 22 points. Another player making a difference was Carter Smith, who posted 11 points.

Portville's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Ellicottville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Portville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ellicottville, they will square off against Forestville Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
