Baseball Game Preview: Juarez Eagles vs. Farragut Admirals

The Juarez Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Farragut Admirals at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Juarez has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Juarez managed to slip by King the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles lost 14-4 to the Jaguars on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Farragut waltzed into their match on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 4-0 shutout.

Robert DeMateo was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Farragut let Ben DeMateo and Nico Roman run wild. DeMateo went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Roman went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. DeMateo is becoming a predictor of Farragut's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 11-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Yoel Guerra, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Farragut pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Juarez, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Juarez might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Farragut when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
