Basketball Recap: Lake Gibson Find Success

On Monday, the Lake Gibson Braves beat the Tampa Bay Tech Titans 61-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.

A'Darrion Willis was his usual excellent self, putting up 28 points. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Auree Lewis, who posted seven points.

Despite the loss, Tampa Bay Tech still got an impressive performance from Evan Clark, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 29 points and three steals. That was a full 54.7% of Tampa Bay Tech's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Aamir Stafford, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

The victory got Lake Gibson back to even at 3-3. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Lake Gibson will venture away from home to challenge Bell Creek Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Lake Gibson's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-34 defeat against Jesuit on the 10th.
