Softball Game Preview: Westlake Wolverines vs. North Point Eagles

Westlake is 0-10 against North Point since May of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Wolverines will take on the Eagles at 4:30 p.m.

Westlake is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 22-0 to Northern.

Meanwhile, North Point waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Panthers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 5, 2024.

Alyssa Blaney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, North Point's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Williams, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

North Point's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Westlake suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to North Point when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
