Softball Recap: Royal Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

On Tuesday Royal's undefeated season almost came to an end. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Othello Huskies 3-1. The three-run effort marked the Knights' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Jill Allred made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Royal's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Othello, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Royal will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Wapato at 11:00 a.m. As for Othello, they will venture away from home to challenge Quincy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Quincy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.25 runs per game on average), something Othello will no doubt try to take advantage of.
