The Trenton Tigers will head out to face off against the Crystal River Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Trenton was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Columbia on Thursday. Trenton never let Columbia get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Not much got past Addison Allaire, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Columbia off the board. Allaire has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Presley Akins, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Olivia Weaver also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Crystal River made easy work of Williston on Thursday and carried off an 8-1 win.
Violet Flynn made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). Flynn was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kirsten Schaak was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Athena Childs, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Crystal River pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Trenton, their record is now 9-5.
Trenton's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's match. The Tigers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Crystal River, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Trenton continue to outrun the ball?
