Baseball Game Preview: Middletown Islanders vs. Rogers Vikings

The Middletown Islanders will challenge the Rogers Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Middletown and six for Rogers.

Ponaganset hit Middletown with a ten-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Islanders came up short against the Chieftains, falling 14-2.

Evan Agren made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Cam Carlisle was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Rogers suffered their closest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Johnston by a score of 7-5.

Darren Carter was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Trenton Carter, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Rogers' loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Middletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
