Recap: The Village School of Naples Knights vs. Marco Island Academy Rays
The Village School of Naples Knights won the last time they faced the Marco Island Academy Rays, and things went their way on Monday too. The Village School of Naples claimed a resounding 84-53 win over Marco Island Academy on the road. The victory was all the more spectacular given The Village School of Naples' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Marco Island Academy is ranked 116th).
Marco Island Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Rodden, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Rodden hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Sadler, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals.
The Village School of Naples' win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Marco Island Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Village School of Naples will face off against Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Florida Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three matchups. As for Marco Island Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Donahue Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
