The Nitro Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Sissonville Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nitro knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Sissonville likes a good challenge.
Nitro is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Wirt County 25-10 on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly 15 runs.
McKenzie Hyatt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with eight RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyndi Campbell, who went 3-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Ava Lane also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Nitro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, Sissonville made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lincoln on Saturday. The Indians came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 14-11.
Sissonville got a massive performance out of Lydia Ellis, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Makynli Berrier, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
Nitro pushed their record up to 8-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Sissonville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-11 record this season.
Nitro's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Wildcats have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Sissonville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Nitro continue to outrun the ball?
Nitro suffered a grim 19-4 defeat to Sissonville in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
