Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Pineville's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Pineville unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 16-6 to the Harlan Green Dragons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mountain Lions have suffered since April 29, 2024.

Rachel Howard was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and 14 unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Rayanna Maidon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Monica Whitehead, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Pineville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Harlan, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Green Dragons beat Pineville by a score of 16-6 later that day.
