Basketball Game Preview: Silver Creek Raptors vs. Hinkley Thunder

The Silver Creek Raptors just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Hinkley Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Silver Creek and 12 for Hinkley dating back to last season.

Silver Creek fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Fairview on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Knights 56-50. While losing is never fun, the Raptors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Knights are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Hinkley played a tough contest last Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Denver North 72-29. The Thunder were down 62-22 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Silver Creek will have to contain Malachi Holden as he made an impact in Hinkley's last game. He went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Hinkley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Silver Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Everything came up roses for Silver Creek against Hinkley in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 78-10 win. In that game, Silver Creek amassed a halftime lead of 49-4, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
