Softball Recap: Friday's Win Is Charlotte Latin's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Charlotte Latin barely beat Gaston Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 16-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Hawks have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlotte Latin got a massive performance out of Caroline Coble, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Coble has posted since back in February. Irie King also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Charlotte Latin hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Charlotte Latin is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Gaston Christian, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Charlotte Latin has already played their next contest, an 11-1 victory against Lee Park Prep on the 28th. As for Gaston Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against High Point Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. The Cougars will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
