Buhler has gone 8-2 against Mulvane recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Crusaders will take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Buhler is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Buhler and Augusta, and Buhler kept the tradition alive. The Crusaders blew past the Orioles 14-4 on Thursday. Considering the Crusaders have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Brayden Henry made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Henry was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Buhler got a massive performance out of Mitchel McDaniel, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that McDaniel has launched this season. Dylan Scripsick was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Mulvane entered their contest against McPherson on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Wildcats came up short against the Bullpups, falling 10-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Wildcats, who until this match were averaging 2.2 runs allowed.
Hays Ensley was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Buhler's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Mulvane, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 10-3-2.
Buhler suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Mulvane in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Crusaders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
