Football Recap: Cardinal Spellman Comes Up Short

Cardinal Spellman fell victim to Mt. St. Michael Academy and their airtight defense on Saturday. They took a blow against the Mountaineers, falling 42-0. The Pilots just can't catch a break and have now endured six defeats in a row dating back to last season.

Victor Declet was nothing short of spectacular for Mt. St. Michael Academy: he rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. That's the most rushing yards Declet has posted since back in October of 2024. Nathaniel Cabrera made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Cardinal Spellman's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mt. St. Michael Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cardinal Spellman is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Christ the King at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. St. Michael Academy, they will face off against Fordham Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
