Basketball Recap: Laverne Victorious

It was a proper cat-fight when Laverne challenged Fargo/Gage on Tuesday. The Laverne Tigers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Fargo/Gage Bearcats 40-38. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Bearcats are ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Laverne has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Fargo/Gage, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-15.

Laverne has already played their next contest, a 61-32 defeat against Leedey on the 5th. As for Fargo/Gage, they will welcome Tyrone at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
