Football Recap: Gulf Coast Sharks vs. Cape Coral Seahawks
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Gulf Coast can now relate to. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 35-21 to the Cape Coral Seahawks. The Sharks just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.
Despite the loss, Gulf Coast had strong showings from Gio Marenco, who rushed for 145 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Javien Altine, who rushed for 131 yards. Altine also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making four total tackles and defending one pass.
Cape Coral's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Hooker, who threw for 169 yards and four TDs. Caleb Cobb helped Hooker out on the ground, rushing for 129 yards on only ten carries.
Gulf Coast now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Cape Coral, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.
