Football Recap: Elkmont Red Devils vs. St. John Paul II Falcons
Elkmont gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They skirted past the St. John Paul II Falcons 22-20. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Red Devils as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Jake Guthrie had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 208 yards and three touchdowns.
St. John Paul II lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordan Brown, who rushed for 179 yards on only ten carries. Brown's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Ross, who threw for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
Elkmont will be playing in front of their home fans against Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. John Paul II, they will face off against Madison County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
