Softball Recap: Winters Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Winters can now relate to. They lost 9-2 to the Colusa RedHawks on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the RedHawks this season, with their most recent loss being a 4-3 defeat back in April.

Winters saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teagan Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Riley Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Winters now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Colusa, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-11-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Winters will face off against Durham at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Colusa, they will challenge University Prep at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday.
