Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Damarii Wright and Brett Varney Lead Severance to Victory + How To Watch

Severance put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Mountain View Mountain Lions as they made off with a 70-45 victory. The Silver Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mountain Lions, too.

Severance was led to victory by Brett Varney and Damarii Wright. Varney almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Wright went 8-for-14 to rack up 18 points and five boards. Those 14 points gave Varney a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Rodriguez, who posted four points and six boards.

Severance smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Mountain View still got an impressive performance from Cole Tonniges, who shot 44% from the field en route to 17 points and six rebounds. The matchup was Tonniges' fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Wyatt Hatch also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Severance's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Mountain View, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Severance will be taking part in a tournament against Riverdale Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Silver Knights will need to watch out since the Ravens have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Mountain View, they will head out to challenge Greeley West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
